intra-action is a film by Ian Margo made in 2026 (no official public release yet). The project is a full length science fiction movie (70min). The film works as a curated compendium of video-reports, approaching aesthetics through gaming culture, digital frameworks, scientific graphics, surveillance technologies, the ugly and the uncanny and internet pirate culture. It is heavily inspired by James Ballard’s Atrocity Exhibition, Peter Wollen’s Friendship’s Death, CCRU’s “skin crawlers”, Hito Steyerl theories on digital images and the reports in relation with the HuggingFace hacking by OpenAI agents this past summer. The movie has been done using mostly custom generative software and self-made video games oriented towards the project. Here is the latest cut, in 1080p (originally 4K).
